Why is my name Multifaceted Lorraine?
Well, for multiple reasons.
It started as a reminder to myself, but it can also be a powerful reminder for anyone, and perhaps it can be useful for you too.
I was once at an interview where I was asked to decide on only one thing that I was best at job wise. Since I had worked in various capacities within my industry by that time, I immediately asked, “Oh, but why limit yourself?” I agree that no one can do it all and do it well alone BUT you can do different things well albeit just not at the same time. Especially when you enjoy what you do, there’s just a natural motivation to learn and grow your knowledge and experiences.
So, I choose to embrace ALL the facets that make me, me.
‘Multifaceted’ is a descriptive word, it’s not a value word. Rather than deny existence to some parts of myself, I’m choosing to acknowledge ALL my facets. Indeed, some facets could do with a lot of polishing but each facet holds the potential for countless possibilities. We have the choice to view a rough spot as a flaw or as an opportunity.
There are so many sides to a story and likewise, there are so many sides to a person. Moreover, these stories and personalities grow and change all the time. That’s why we have multiple chances at multiple possibilities if we only pick up the courage to explore them.
This name also reminds me that there’s no excuse not to show up (because I’m actually very shy). So I found a way to show up as Multifaceted Lorraine. Silly? Well, it produced 3 websites so far, with a fourth on the way… so I think I’ll remain ‘silly’ and have FUN for now. I’m a recovering perfectionist and I will always strive to give my best which will be perfectly imperfect and that’s ok.
When someone tries to pigeonhole you, it’s for their convenience, not yours. This name is a reminder to never limit yourself. Only YOU can limit you.
Why did I create this website?
My hope is that you may find some encouragement and comfort in knowing that you’re not alone in your journey as I share my own journey here. This is where I come to sort things out and I hope that we can encourage each other in the process.
It is NOT some sort of glorified personification; in fact, it’s quite the opposite. This is me in the process of working it out - the good, the bad and the ugly and usually messy!
Honestly, it’s also more convenient for me to explain myself here to those who care enough to ask. I’m not a one sentence person, neither am I a one website person as it turns out.
Having said that, this website, like all my websites, will DEFINITELY change and evolve. If you’re reading this now - I’m just starting out so the main party is happening at Multifaceting.com because there’s only one me and I’ve got to pace myself. I started designing and creating several FUN cute products to use to help myself with this whole process. I blog and share about this journey at Multifaceting.com so that perhaps, it may help you too with your journey.
